This delightful spot isn't just another run-of-the-mill burger joint; it's a culinary experience that pays respect to traditional burger-making while incorporating modern twists that leave a lasting impression on your taste buds. With a phone number of +1 910-550-1303, it's easily reachable for all your burger cravings!
From the moment you step through the doors, you're greeted with friendly service, which sets the tone for a memorable meal. Customers rave about the warmth and attentiveness of the staff, creating an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. And it’s not just the warm welcomes that draw people in; the burgers themselves are the stars of the show.
Take it from Stefana Allmer, who described her first visit as “great” and praised the “awesome” burgers, particularly noting that great burgers should be a bit messy. Al's Burger Shack delivers on this front, with juicy, flavorful offerings that are anything but average. Aaron Lee adds a unique touch by highlighting gluten-free buns and the variety of sauces available, ensuring there's something for everyone. The chili slaw burger is particularly highlighted as a must-try!
Dennis Duffy appreciates that Al’s stays true to classic burger making, avoiding the smash burger trend. His recommendation? Order a burger one step rarer than you typically prefer to savor the rich flavors. The perfect ratios of meat, toppings, and potato buns result in a burger experience that is thoughtful and satisfying. And let’s not overlook the fries! Both regular and sweet potato fries receive rave reviews, particularly when paired with Al’s signature sauces, including the popular Winnie sauce.
Michelle Youssef couldn’t agree more, emphasizing how Al's classic burger is “cooked to perfection.” The sweet potato fries, especially, take the experience to another level. Her creative suggestion for a marshmallow dipping sauce shows just how beloved the fries are, highlighting the creativity behind the menu. With an excellent selection of local beers on tap, Al's has a little something for everyone, making it a perfect spot for a casual night out or a quick lunch between errands.
Of course, we cannot forget the words of Megan Cox, who expressed her elation at having this Chapel Hill staple closer to home. With freshly cooked burgers and a variety of sides, including delicious tots, every meal at Al's feels like a treat. Don’t miss out on trying Al's sauce, which she insists is a game changer!
In the world of burgers, Al's Burger Shack stands out not just for what it serves, but how it serves it. With hearty portions, a welcoming environment, and a menu that caters to all tastes, Al's is not just a meal—it’s an experience. So, grab your napkins and head on over for what might just be your new favorite burger!
“ Our first time visiting and it was great experience. The staff were very friendly. And the burgers were awesome. Make sure you have plenty napkins because you’ll need them! My personal theory is great burgers are messy burgers and these shore do not disappoint! MMM We will definitely be back! ”
“ Not your typical burger joint - way better! Amazing burgers, cooked to order, gluten free buns (for those gluten intolerant folks) and amazingly friendly service and staff. As a plus, it’s cheaper than five guys and they have unique sauces to try. Highly recommend the chili slaw burger! ”
“ Very solid burger! I give credit to the few establishments who have not caved to the smash burger craze! Smash burgers are good, but greasy and usually covered in salt. Sometimes you just want a good, old-fashioned patty! We ordered ahead through the website, based on previous reviews, and the food was ready right on time! The burgers are small, but they cook to order (order one step rarer than you want) and the ratios of meat/toppings/bun, are perfect! The potato buns are great! No combos - expect to pay 20 bucks for a burger, fries, and fountain drink. Ordered both the sweet potato, and regular fries. Sweet potato order was three or four times the amount of the regular fry order. Three draft beers, and a small, but well-crafted, selection of cans. Staff was actually moving around pretty good, and personable! (They must be down from the Raleigh locations). We will see what happens when they turn it over to the locals! Is it the "Best burger in America"? No. But it was very good! Pictured is the Bobo. ”
“ Al’s Burgers is hands down one of the best burger spots around! The classic burger is cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and stacked just right. But the real game-changer? The fries! The sweet potato fries are next-level delicious, especially when paired with their famous Winnie sauce. One fun idea—how about a marshmallow dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries? A little sweet, a little creamy, and the perfect complement to those crispy fries. I’d definitely come back just to try that! Great food, friendly service, and a fantastic atmosphere—Al’s Burgers is a must-visit! ”
“ So glad to have this Chapel Hill staple right down the road from my house. Our burgers were cooked fresh right in front of us, cooked to perfection! I also got a hotdog atw, fries and tots and they were delicious. If you go here, DEFINITELY TRY THE AL’s Sauce! You won’t be disappointed! GO HEELS!!!!! ”
“ They cheerfully great you as you walk in the door. You place you order, pay and wait for your name to be called. They cook to order and it smells wonderful while waiting. Because they grind their own beef, you get to order the temperature you like. It comes with sauce that can be served on the side. These burgers were cooked to perfection and served on a potato bun. We shall be back ”
“ Great food, great atmosphere, wonderful staff, excellent prices. Lots of seating outdoors and indoors. Good music is always playing. Food is cooked when ordered, so it's always fresh, but there is a 15-20-minute wait. Restrooms are always clean, and the dining room is always clean. ”
“ My fiance and I went tonight for the first time. My family has been raving about it since they opened. It was fantastic. I’m sad to see the negative reviews as they do not correspond with our experiences so far. Staff were sooooo friendly and helpful. Greeted when we walked in and checked on during dinner multiple times. Price was very reasonable and we’ll definitely be coming back. We have boycotted five guys pricing for years so we are so glad to have a new clean burger spot. ”
